How it works
A free check first. Paid work only if there's a saving worth having, and you agree to it.
1. The free check
You upload your business rates bill. Our software reads the figures: rateable value, reliefs and what you pay. It compares your rateable value with your takings (if you share them) and with similar venues.
A chartered rating surveyor then reviews everything before you see a result. You'll get one of three answers: there's a case worth pursuing, there isn't, or we need one more piece of information.
2. Business rates: Check, Challenge, Appeal
If you go ahead, you accept our terms and appoint us as your agent in your business rates valuation account on GOV.UK. That lets us act for you with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).
- Check: we confirm the facts the VOA holds about your property and correct any errors.
- Challenge: if the valuation is still too high, we make a formal Challenge with evidence. A qualified surveyor signs off every submission.
- Appeal: if the VOA doesn't agree and we think the case is strong, we can appeal to the independent Valuation Tribunal. We'll ask you first.
The VOA can take many months to decide. You'll see every step, date and deadline in your account, and we'll email you when anything changes.
3. Fees
The check is free. For business rates we charge 15% of the saving, capped at £20,000, and only when there is a saving. Read the full fee explanation.
What we ask of you
- Keep paying your rates bill as normal while a challenge is under way.
- Reply to requests for information promptly. Valuation Office deadlines are strict, and your account shows when we need something.
- Tell us about changes to your property or trade.
